Your Excellency,

With reference to Your Excellency's communication

dated 22nd February on the question of extending the facilities

for flying at Hong Kong, I have the honour to return herewith

two plans showing the extent of the proposed aerodrome and these

plans have been examined by the Air Force Officers who remark

that the site has been carefully examined and it is suggested

that the entire area marked E on plan should be reserved for

hangars etc.

A plan 0.C.W. No. 3686/0 has been prepared from information supplied by Air Force Officers indicating a suggest-

ed arrangement of the various buildings proposed to be executed

together with an outline design of the typhoon shelter and

slipway.

A schedule is attached giving suggested approximate floor dimensions for the various buildings required, but these may be considered as subject to reduction in some cases.

In respect to the typhoon shelter whether the nullah

on the plan should empty direct into the north west angle of

the shelter or whether it should be carried out to the line of

the southern sea wall is a matter which could perhaps be left

open for further consideration and discussion. It is however

fairly evident that the maintenance of this particular nullah free from ditritus will be a matter of some importance.

It would appear that the depth of water in the shelter

need not be greater that 10 feet in the first instance with the walls carried down to a depth permitting a final depth of not

more than 15 feet.
